Donald Trump’s attack on the FBI backfires

Donald Trump, with his presidency in flames and his freedom in doubt, has now decided that destroying the FBI is the only way to keep himself out of prison for his treasonous crimes. Trump’s strategy, however, is apparently to tweet the FBI to death. He’s posted bizarre, dishonest, threatening, and criminal attacks against the FBI on Twitter over the past few days. As it turns out, the whole thing has backfired on him.

Trump is attempting to destroy the reputation of the FBI by spinning one phony conspiracy theory about it after another. That way, once the FBI finishes fully exposing his treason, he can tell the public to just ignore it. But Trump’s attacks on the FBI have caused mainstream Americans to fight back against him by coming to the FBI’s defense. Specifically, so many people are now donating to the FBI Agents Association, its website crashed.

Legal expert Benjamin Wittes posted a tweet encouraging the public to donate to the FBI Agents Association in the name of Andrew McCabe and Jim Baker, the two FBI officials being targeted by Donald Trump. Former FBI Director James Comey then retweeted it, broadening its reach. Former CIA Director John Brennan then added his voice to the mix: “Andy McCabe & Jim Baker epitomize integrity, competence, and respect for rule of law. Not surprised @realDonaldTrump fears them, along with the rest of FBI. I just donated to FBI Agents Association as a small way of saying Thanks FBI.”

At various points in the day, the FBIAA website was unable to load due to the sheer number of people visiting the site and making donations. In other words Donald Trump’s attempts at smearing and demonizing the FBI are only causing the mainstream public to come to the defense of the FBI. His plan has backfired. You can find the FBIAA website here.
