Once upon a time, Maria Bartiromo was considered a serious journalist and reporter, often noted for her expertise in understanding the financial markets. These days, we can consider her an erstwhile legitimate journalist, as she’s now a conspiracy-flinging voice of the far right on Fox News (the disinformation and faux news entertainment network). Filled with conjured-up outrage, Bartiromo continues to lend support to the Big Lie and other fallacies.

This weekend, Bartiromo interviewed nefarious Senator Ron Johnson (R-WI) for her network. Bartiromo claimed that there are “a lot of deals underway” between China and Hunter Biden, President Biden’s son. She asked Johnson, knowing he’d be receptive to the made-up controversy, to weigh in on the topic. With no evidence to support his claims, Johnson stated that “these agencies are covering for the Bidens. They’ve always been covering for them.” If Johnson and Bartiromo want to talk about coverups, they’d do better to revisit the corrupt goings-on of the previous administration. Ultimately, the duo ended up making a false comparison between Hunter Biden and billionaire Tom Barrack, who was indicted last week for being a foreign agent on behalf of the United Arab Emirates.

Bartiromo lamented that “Tom Barrack, a former aide to President Trump, sat in jail for four nights last week and then was served with the most expensive bond ever.” Leave it to Fox News to try to paint the very wealthy and very guilty Barrack as a victim, and leave it to the network to try to keep the Hunter Biden non-scandal alive. Most Americans really don’t care about contrived claims about Hunter Biden, as they realize that they’re merely hallucinations of the QAnon party. Bartiromo has lost the plot, and Johnson has never been tethered to reality in the first place. We’d do well to tune out Bartiromo and to vote out Johnson in 2022.
