Same old song and dance

While a number of people are critical of President Biden’s age – as this week he’ll be the first president to turn 80 while in office, he’s continually demonstrated his 50+ years in Washington as one of his greatest assets as his political rivals underestimate him. While many people make the argument about “new blood,” sometimes it’s better to have proven leadership – and a guy who’s been in politics for the administrations of eight different presidents is probably the guy you want to have in charge when dealing with the worst inflation in four decades, a pandemic, and the gradual erosion of democracy itself.

You might be just as astonished as much of the media is over the Democratic Party’s success in the last election – especially since they harped on a doomsday narrative over what was anticipated to go down on Nov 8 – but part of the reason the party only lost a single digit number of seats was because President Biden put together a task force to work on saving congressional seats while also actively campaigning in a number of races.

Now, House Democrats are putting together a legal team for when House Republicans begin their investigations, and the White House is putting together a legal and communications team to look into the legality of the Republicans’ attacks. After seeing Republicans abuse their power and resources with countless investigations in the Clinton and Obama administrations, Biden and co aren’t waiting for the attacks to come to them. Republicans are just hoping they can create a corrupt picture of the incumbent administration and take over in 2024, but they’re not used to us fighting back – and anything that makes their attacks look impotent and weak is anathema to their base.
