The good thing about Donald Trump being so quiet lately is that because his words tend to be harmful to the fabric of the nation, his silence is golden. The trouble is, the major media outlets are going to find a way to hit their ratings marks one way or the other. And with relatively little Trump news for now (until his inevitable arrest), the media is predictably resorting to manufacturing phony scandals about President Joe Biden.

Biden is still in the process of fixing Trump’s years-long border mess? Scandal. Biden didn’t hold a press conference? Scandal. Biden randomly tripped? Scandal. We warned you that this nonsense was coming from the media. They don’t have many Trump controversies to milk for ratings anymore, so they’re making up Biden controversies for ratings.

But now Donald Trump has decided to begin announcing things. None of them are real, of course. For instance, Trump doesn’t have the money, competence, or work ethic required to launch a social network. It’s more likely he’ll seek money for it from investors, never launch anything, and use the money to pay for his criminal trial defense instead.

Nonetheless, Trump’s phony announcement of an imaginary social network is getting headlines. And because any given American either really wants to hear from Trump again or really doesn’t ever want to hear from Trump again, plenty of attention is being paid to the nonexistent story. As long as the media is getting its ratings from this nonsense, maybe it’ll stop overhyping supposed Biden scandals for a bit, and let Biden focus on the task of rebuilding the nation. By forcing his way slightly back into the conversation, Trump may be unwittingly doing Biden a favor. We’ll see.
