The NRA is in trouble

Just a couple election cycles ago, the NRA was a massive force in funding the campaigns of pro-gun Republican candidates. But now that the Kremlin money has dried up, and the NRA is trying to fend off a New York Attorney General probe while also facing internal financial scandals, things have changed.

The NRA has launched a $2 million effort to oppose President Biden’s gun reform measures. That may sound like a lot. But Senator Chris Murphy explains why it’s actually a sign that the NRA is nearly broke:

If this were happening a few years ago, the NRA would be funding an overwhelmingly large effort to oppose gun reform. Now it’s reduced to coughing up $2 million, which is a pittance compared to the kind of money the NRA used to have. The NRA is in trouble.
