As we’ve seen in the days since the one-year anniversary of the terrorist attack on the Capitol by a bunch of Branch Trumpvidians, reactions by lawmakers to Orange F—k Face (OFF)’s attempt to overthrow the government varied both nationally and in the Iowa/Illinois/Wisconsin Tri-State region.

Democratic US Representatives Bustos and Kind along with Senators Durbin, Duckworth, and Baldwin spoke eloquently about how OFF and the GQP tried to overthrow Democracy. Former Representative Abby Finkenauer and Mike Franken – who are running for Grassley’s seat – also spoke out against OFF’s attempted coup.

Meanwhile GQP response was muted at best in the Tri-State area. Senator Grassley and Representative Ashley Hinson only offered muted responses while Senators Ron Johnson and Joni Ernst made no statements at all. Far as I’m concerned, they all totally endorsed the terrorist attack by their silence or muted responses. The need to ensure that what happened on January 6, 2021, never happens again requires strong statements and action regardless of party. This was a test, which the GQP failed, both at a local and national level.

Lately the news media seems to be on the renewed bi-partisan kick and that we must reach across the aisle and work with the GQP and do whatever they want. Bullshit. That’s not how this works anymore. These are people who tried to overthrow our government and still refuse to acknowledge that fact. These people are trying to take us back to the 1850s in every way possible. I’m done playing nice with them and if local and national media doesn’t like it they can go pound sand.
