Sorry, Donald Trump, but the DOJ does not negotiate with terrorists

There has been much speculation in the media about whether the former president will be held accountable for his crimes. Merrick Garland has already told us that he will pursue justice wherever the evidence leads, but Liz Cheney still felt the need to tell the public that we cannot call ourselves a “nation of laws” unless we hold him accountable.

We see the DOJ aggressively prosecuting January 6th as a criminal conspiracy and getting convictions. We see the evidentiary net closing in on the higher-ups who planned and financed the attack on our democracy. Their feeble coverup attempts have collapsed. And we see the steady drip of testimony as the enablers belatedly try to whitewash their own roles in the insurrection.

So why wouldn’t the former president answer for his crimes? We are told by the pundits that it may perhaps not be in the national interest to tear open political divisions by turning the Department of Justice on a former president. Apparently his most rabid followers might become violent and get themselves into more legal trouble chasing the Big Lie.

Palmer Report has frequently labeled the former president as a stochastic terrorist. And that is what we are talking about here – terrorism leveled against the American People by the MAGA losers and election deniers. I ask you: since when does the United States of America back down from terrorists?

The national interest is only served if we reestablish the rule of law, and we do that by bringing the January 6th instigators to justice. A radical fringe cannot attack our democracy with impunity, and we are not afraid of them.

So worry not, fellow travelers. Garland is on Trump like a bad hairdo. Treasonous Fat Guy will be prosecuted for his crimes as surely as Old Glory still waves over the Potomac. The national interest demands it.
