The riot at the Capitol on January 6th, 2021 was a failed putsch. It was an attack on the Joint Session of Congress as the duly elected members sought to fulfill their sworn duty to the Constitution. There is little that can be said that disputes that fact. All arguments against that assessment are specious and false.

Many members of the GOP have attempted to dispute the cause of the much-witnessed event. What followed the ‘Stop the Steal’ campaign was not ‘patriots being patriots’. It was not just ‘boys (‘Proud Boys’ or Bugaloo Boies’) being boys’. It was not a display of patriotism.

January 6th, 2021 was a failed putsch; an armed insurrection against the Republic of the United States of America, planned, financed and overseen by insurrectionists.

The failed putsch cannot be allowed to go unaddressed. The insurrectionists and seditionists must not be allowed to go unpunished. Congress must act.
The GOP refuses to accept the very fact that their members are duplicitous – at best – in the riot at the Capitol. The GOP would prefer to let ‘bygones be bygones’. That is utterly unacceptable.

If there is to be a Republic based on the Constitution and common law, then Rafael Cruz, Josh Hawley, Mo Brooks, Marjorie Taylor-Greene, Lauren Boebert and the entire Sedition Caucus must be censured and expelled from Congress per the 14th Amendment.
All other members of Congress and the previous administration must be brought to justice fitting their involvement with the planning and execution of the putsch.

Jan 6, 2021 must not be swept under the rug or relegated to the memory hole. January 6th, 2021 must be a day that will live in infamy and all those who assisted in the perpetration of that infamy must be dealt with according to law.
