Rudy Giuliani makes it even worse

Dear readers, we've just launched the Palmer Report 2025 Operating Expenses Fund. If we can fully fund this, it'll bridge the gap and ensure that Palmer Report can keep fighting now and forever. I'm asking you to contribute what you can to our PayPal Page or our GoFundMe Page, both of which accept debit and credit cards. Thank you.

What would do if you’d just finished going on television and screwing up your client’s legal defense, while uttering a phrase so stupid, it’ll end up being the first line of your political obituary? Most of you would just go quiet for awhile and hope it blows over. But that’s not the case with Rudy “Truth Isn’t Truth” Giuliani, who woke up this morning and decided to make things even worse for himself.

Here’s Rudy Giuliani this morning on Twitter, trying to explain away the most humiliating moment of his increasingly humiliating life: “My statement was not meant as a pontification on moral theology but one referring to the situation where two people make precisely contradictory statements, the classic โ€œhe said, she saidโ€ puzzle. Sometimes further inquiry can reveal the truth other times it doesnโ€™t.” What? No. That’s not how any of this works, Rudy. Not even close. It got worse.

For all his bloviating gibberish about the matter, Rudy Giuliani is partly correct about Donald Trump’s no-win testimony scenario. We all know that Trump is going to lie, and then other witnesses like James Comey, who have a better track record of honesty (not to mention contemporaneous notes and contemporaneous witnesses), are going to tell the truth, and people like Comey are more likely to be believed. So now Rudy is lashing out at Comey, in a failed attempt at ruining his credibility: “Since proven leaker Comey is now sanctimoniously lecturing us on truth, I can say sometimes the truth is clear itโ€™s the opposite of what Jim Coney is saying. His disgraceful performance with the FBI makes him the last person who should pontificate on truth.” Nice try, but for all of Comey’s faults, he’s not a leaker.

As if to prove that he’s even more lacking in self awareness than anyone thought possible, Rudy concluded his meltdown by all but challenging former CIA Director John Brennan to a back alley fistfight: “Come on John youโ€™re not a blowhard?” Wait a minute, Rudy Giuliani is accusing some other guy of being a blowhard?
