Donald Trump has tweeted a number of things that have been dishonest, distasteful, racist, threatening, horrifying, you name it. A number of his tweets have constituted felonies. But on Saturday, he reached a new kind of low โ€“ and an inexplicable one at that โ€“ when he retweeted a video of a guy being heard taking a dump on a hot mic. We only wish we were making this up.

A man named Paul Samuel tweeted a video of the Mayor of Georgetown leaving a city council meeting to use the bathroom, and forgetting to turn his lapel mic off. Donald Trump then retweeted the video without adding any additional comment. You can watch the video here if you want, but it’s crass and pointless. The real story is that Trump retweeted it all. Can you get any more unpresidential than a video of a guy pooping? This is just so embarrassing. But then came the truly odd part.

If Trump had bothered to check Paul Samuel’s Twitter feed before retweeting the video that Samuel had posted, Trump would have found this: “I have no doubt that Donald Trump will be recorded as the most corrupt POTUS in US history.” That’s right. Not only did Trump post an absurdly unpresidential video, he got it from an anti-Trump person. Also, the mayor in the video is a Republican โ€“ so Trump is making fun of a guy from his own party.

Moreover, various media outlets dug in and determined that while Samuel just posted the video today, it originally went viral five years ago. This isn’t even something new. So much for Donald Trump becoming more “emboldened.” In reality he’s just becoming even more open about his true offensive nature. We’re also left to wonder Trump targeted the Mayor of Georgetown with his retweet because Trump’s nemesis, former U.S. Ambassador Marie Yovanovitch, was given a standing ovation at Georgetown University earlier this week.
