Donald Trump has spent the past few days urging his supporters to gather today and overthrow the 2020 presidential election. Sure enough, his armed thugs invaded the U.S. Capitol, took over the building, and are holding it under siege, in what amounts to a domestic terrorist attack against the United States. Now Twitter is finally taking some action.

Trump tweeted a deranged video in which he told the terrorists to “go home” but also insisted that the election was “stolen” from him, and even referred to the terrorists as “special” people. The video is absolutely hideous. In response, Twitter has made it impossible to like, retweet, or reply to Trump’s tweet.

In other words, without actually being taken down, Trump’s tweet has basically been deplatformed. We think they need to take the further step of removing the tweet, and banning Trump from Twitter. But this is a major step in the right direction.
