Now that former Fox News producer Abby Grossberg is on television spilling the dirt on just what a liability Tucker Carlson was to the network behind the scenes, we’re starting to get a sense of why Fox tossed him overboard. His strong ratings make him highly profitable for the network on a nightly basis. But the overtly sexist work environment he was running is just going to end up costing Fox more money in settlement payouts.

In the meantime, it’s becoming clear by now that Fox News isn’t afraid of Tucker Carlson. Rolling Stone says it’s heard from a whopping eight people inside Fox who say that the network has been amassing dirt on Carlson for awhile now, precisely because it thought that it might need it for a moment like this. More to the point, Fox appears to have given numerous employees the greenlight to inform the media about this dirt file, so that Carlson will get word about it.

In other words, Fox News is letting Tucker Carlson know that if he decides to start spilling dirt about the network, it’s in a position to retaliate against him with dirt about him. What a mess. Imagine trying to run a business in the midst of all this toxic infighting. Fox News is turning into Game of Thrones, but with idiots.
