This Republican debate was even more of a train wreck than you could imagine

It started with the Star-Spangled Banner. It shouldn’t have. This is because these nitwits wouldn’t know patriotism if it stood in front of them. And so it began, the night of pious lies, of losers. I must remark that Fox in their intro, admitted Biden won Wisconsin. I imagine that pissed off more than a few audience members.

DeSantis got the first question. And might I just take a moment to say how terrible his debate performance was? I was struck by how off his game — even for him — DeSantis was.

We need to send Joe Biden back to his basement, Ron declared as the answer to the first question. These words mean nothing but that’s what DeSantis IS — nothing — a bought and paid-for Republican lobbyist talking point. That is ALL he is, and it’s why he can’t win.

Vivek. Vivek accomplished something tonight that’s major! Vivek has somehow metastasized into a bigger irritant than Ron DeSantis! Amazing! Vivek, whom I’m convinced was created by a used car company, had a bad night. It was he who bore the wrath of the other candidates.

And what was up with Pence and Christie? It’s like they swapped personalities. I was taking notes throughout this debate and when I first saw Pence I wrote the following: “What’s wrong with Mike Pence?”

He looked off — sad and mad and then he proceeded to wipe the floor with Vivek, proving that he’s good for something after all. Pence was the most aggressive personality in the whole debate. He spoke out of turn. He interrupted.

In the one truly intense moment of the night, Pence demanded all the candidates answer whether he did the right thing on January 6. Could you see Pudding fingers panicking? Ron finally said: “I got no beef with him.” Classy.

The biggest disappointment of the night, was Chris Christie. What happened to your Mojo, Chris? Wherever it went, it wasn’t on that debate stage. Christie was — dare I say it — boring. He laid not a glove on DeSantis. He kept saying he should be the nominee because he won in a blue state. You’ve GOT to do better than that, Chris.

Also, rounding up the losers is Tim Scott. He faded into the woodwork. Tim Scott is not ready for primetime. He barely spoke and nothing he said was interesting except for late in the debate when he said he wanted to “break the backs of teachers unions.” This does not mean literal back breaking, but still!

Christie had a question about UFO’s. It’s good to see Fox is taking this debate seriously. Haley was better than I thought she’d be, and she also destroyed Vivek, who wants us to turn our backs on Ukraine.

Haley told Vivek he had “no foreign policy experience and it shows” which was her best remark of the night. And Trump? He wasn’t even mentioned until the second hour and for only a few minutes. Vivek was undeniably the most pro-Trump.

Hutchinson? Burgum? What are they doing there? Does anyone even remember one word they said? So yes, this was MORE of a train-wreck than I thought. And the debates are only just beginning!
