The 2024 Senate race is currently the most difficult race for Democrats come November, with things likely coming down to the wire in three states: Ohio, Montana, and Arizona. The first of them is rapidly turning red, the second is trending blue in places, and the third is trending blue with independent voters leaning Democrat. Democrats winning the Senate is doable, but it will ultimately happen if we manage to do everything right by putting in the work.

So far, we’re already seeing signs of that happening. To date – Ohio picked the worst possible Republican to run for Senate (this was even before his scandal popped up just before primary day). In Montana, Jon Tester is going to be on the ballot at the same time as two liberal leaning justices for that state’s supreme court – as well as a ballot initiative for abortion access.

In Arizona, Democrats aren’t only facing the crazy Trump sycophant Kari Lake who famously lost the governorship race two years ago for a Senate seat, but Kyrsten Sinema has declined to run for re-election, clearing the path for Democrat Ruben Gallego to run in a two-person race and consolidate her support. So far, Gallego is ahead by a few points, but Kari Lake decided to go ahead and do him yet another big favor.

While continuing to contest the 2022 governors’ race that she lost, and managed to infuriate much of the state courthouses in doing so, Lake finally conceded that she knew she lost and was deliberately grifting her followers anyway. It’s only going to get more ridiculous from here – but Lake is unfortunately the brand you get when you vote Republican: a liar who keeps on lying. Let’s keep her and the rest of them from the levers of power on Nov 5.
