Donald Trump keeps complaining that his criminal trial is keeping him from being able to hit the campaign trail. But in reality, Trump’s handlers pulled the plug on most of his campaign rallies long before this trial even started. They’ve also used excuses as flimsy as the wind in order to cancel the few rallies Trump has had scheduled. Since the trial began, there has really only been one day where Trump has gone out and campaigned, and he came across as more senile than ever.

This all comes even though Trump’s trial is only taking place four days a week, due to the judge’s other commitments on Wednesdays. So what is Trump planning to do with his day off on Wednesday? A big campaign rally in a swing state?

No, he’s sitting home at Mar-a-Lago while some kind of NFT event goes on around him. This should turn out to be whatever the opposite of exciting is. The last time Trump got involved in an NFT scheme, it consisted of his own face on digital trading cards.

So no, Donald Trump is not making any effort at campaigning. He’d surely like to be out on the campaign trail, running his mouth to his fawning supporters. But his own handlers keep finding excuses to prevent him from doing that, because they know he’s way too feeble and senile to be out there on more than a very occasional basis.
