Rudy Giuliani crashes and burns in court

One of the reasons a trial date is scheduled several months in advance is so that there’s time for all the pretrial filings to come and go without delaying things. That includes the inevitable nonsense filings from defendants who mistakenly think that they can magic wand their way out of having to go to trial. Speaking of nonsense, this brings us to Rudy Giuliani.

Giuliani had his attorney in court today arguing that Giuliani could end up being criminally charged in multiple states, and that it could constitute double jeopardy. In response, the judge explained that double jeopardy doesn’t work that way. Giuliani’s attorney replied with “You may have a point there.” No really, that happened.

Rudy Giuliani’s attorneys keep quitting and taking legal action against him because he can’t pay them what he owes them, so it’s no surprise that he’s ended up with this kind of representation. But the reality is that even if Rudy had the best attorney in the world, that attorney would still have a whack job for a client. The bottom line is there’s no hope for Rudy at all. He’s going to prison.
