When do we get to wake up from this nightmare?
At the risk of wearing out a saying, you must have been living under a rock if you haven’t heard about Donald Trump’s latest criminal enterprise. Palmer Report and virtually every other media outlet is buzzing about the whistleblower complaint surrounding Trump’s phone call with Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky. The conversation involved Trump’s attempted manipulations to have that government interfere in U.S. elections. Why? Because he can’t win on his own, and winning is everything for him even though he does nothing for us. We are not his concern; he is.
Looking back over Trump’s history, one figure continues to literally come out of the woodwork to involve himself in these dirty dealings: Rudy Giuliani. Some time ago it was reported that Giuliani planned a trip to Ukraine to ask their government to launch an investigation into Joe Biden’s son Hunter. As Vox reported, “no evidence [has] surfaced that the former vice president intentionally tried to help his son by pressing for the prosecutor general’s dismissal back in 2014.” In fact, Vox reports that Biden’s involvement in the removal of the prosecutor general was “in step with the position of the wider U.S. government, as well as other international institutions.” Contrary to Giuliani’s assertions, Biden’s involvement was government sanctioned and had nothing to do with his son Hunter. It is quite difficult to discern who is the bigger liar and deceiver between Trump and Giuliani.
Trump is a proven liar, and Giuliani is so inept that he can’t even keep up with his own lies. Appearing on CNN in an attempt to head off Trump’s latest disgrace, Giuliani told Chris Cuomo that he did not ask Ukraine to investigate Biden, and less than 30 seconds later, he admitted that he did just that. If Giuliani is the best Trump can do for “damage control,” he might as well not bother.
As for Trump, he tweeted “Is anybody dumb enough to believe that I would say something inappropriate with a foreign leader while on such a potentially ‘heavily populated’ call?” Really, Trump? You, say something inappropriate? This must be a rhetorical question. As shown by CNBC, Trump is merely lying again. That outlet reports that Trump repeatedly urged Ukraine’s president to investigate Joe Biden’s son Hunter. The Wall Street Journal reported that he further encouraged President Zelensky approximately “eight times” to work with Giuliani on the probe. This man has no scruples. Anton Geraschenko told The Daily Beast that Trump is “looking for kompromat” (dirt) to discredit Biden. It is obvious that Trump learned nothing from his last foray into foreign government interference. Why? Because to date there have been no consequences for his illegal activities. He truly believes himself above the law.
Donald Trump is not only a liar, he’s a creep. He’s the kind of person who makes your skin crawl. He is destroying our country and is seeking to continue his destruction. If Congress can’t stop him, we can—we must. Foreign interference aside, we must go to the polls in record numbers. We must take back our country, restore our democracy, and return our lives to some semblance of normalcy.
