Michael Cohen comes out swinging

When Letitia James’ civil fraud trial against Donald Trump kicked off on Monday, it was immediately clear that Michael Cohen will play a key role as a witness. That’s not surprising, given that it was Cohen who first blew the whistle on Trump’s serial book-cooking to begin with.

House Republican and Trump apologist Jim Jordan is trying to make a big deal out of this, tweeting that “The Left is STILL relying on Michael Cohen — a convicted liar — to take down President Trump.” Of course Cohen famously only lied to protect Donald Trump, before ultimately coming clean about everything and thoroughly redeeming himself.

Michael Cohen clearly isn’t afraid of the likes of Jim Jordan. Cohen fired back at Jordan with this tweet: “The MAGA portion of the GOP relies on the stupidity of a former wrestling coach. Now go put on a jacket and go get your shine box Gymbo.” That’s right, Michael Cohen just made a “Gym Jordan” reference.

The kicker is that while Cohen will play a major role as a witness in Letitia James civil trial against Trump and Alvin Bragg’s criminal trial against Trump, he’s not even involved in the other Trump trials. The real measure of the breadth of Trump’s longtime crime spree is the sheer number of cooperating witnesses against him in his various trials – and many of the people testifying against Trump are Republicans. People like Jim Jordan have no answer for that.
