House Republican and QAnon stooge Marjorie Taylor Greene thought she’d be making headlines today with her laugh out loud impeachment effort against President Joe Biden. That would have been dumb enough. Instead Greene is in the headlines for something much uglier.

Media Matters has exposed a 2018 Facebook exchange in which Marjorie Taylor Greene claimed that major school shootings such as Sandy Hook and Parkland were all a fake, and that they were invented by Nancy Pelosi and Hillary Clinton.

There are few more offensive lies in politics than the absurd claim that these school shootings never happened, because it’s a direct insult to the kids who died and their grieving parents. It’s the kind of lunatic fringe territory that even the most conspiratorial and deranged of House Republicans have avoided, if only for fear of blowback.

So there’s reason to believe that these remarks could finish off Greene’s career, particularly if she responds poorly to this scandal, which she likely will. She’s already on the proverbial ropes due to her incitement of the U.S. Capitol domestic terrorist attack. Now she’s facing this scandal.

The people of Marjorie Taylor Greene’s district want to be represented by a conservative Republican, but the questions are growing as to whether they want to be represented by this kind of walking disaster. Greene only won the Republican nomination with the help of Trump, who has since been silenced. We suspect Greene will lose to a Republican primary challenger in 2022, if she even lasts in office that long. With each new embarrassing scandal, the odds of her being forced to resign go up.
