Not surprisingly, Trump and his allies are gearing up for the House Select Committee live hearings by “preparing an alternative reality of lies,” Huffington Post reported. The Republicans’ goal has always been to pretend January 6 never happened or at the very least to pretend it wasn’t as bad as the rest of us know it was. They have always referred to the rioters as “political prisoners,” and that will not change. They also continue to claim that Trump did nothing wrong when everything Trump did was wrong, especially that day.

Former Republican Congressman David Jolly told Huff Post: “The January 6 hearings will be damning for Donald Trump. Without counterprogramming, every Republican would have to address whether they can still defend the former present amidst new revelations of his culpability. The GOP counterprogramming is simply grade-school politics of deflection.” Why do other Republicans not see things the way Jolly does? They have chosen not to because there is absolutely no truth to any of their nonsense. Instead of “manning up,” Republicans continue to spread the “stolen election” lie, and if you think about it, why would they stop? Their followers believe that bullshit. Huff Post reveals just how deeply this runs by bringing up Matt Schlapp, who heads up the Conservative Political Action Conference.

In an interview with Newsmax, Schlapp claimed that the only reason Trump allies have been indicted is “because of their politics.” No, they broke the law. Jim Jordan chimed in, claiming: “Democrats want to use the violence of January 6 to stigmatize conservative voices and delegitimize conservative ideals.” Look, what this new brand of Republicans do not have is conservative ideals. They are crazy ideals. Even many Republicans disagree with the direction the party has taken and continues to take. The House Select Committee is not politicizing anything; they are trying to get to the bottom of what happened at the Capitol. Why these people latched onto a blowhard like Trump will always remain a mystery, but they appear to be latched on for life. They will break the law, destroy democracy, and do whatever is necessary to destroy this country. They may think they’re doing good for the country, but the law says otherwise. Just ask Ryan Kelley, who was running for Michigan governor and who has now been arrested by the FBI for “committing violence against a person or property on restricted ground, damaging federal property, disorderly conduct, and entering a restricted building or grounds,” according to New York Times. They are thugs, and their reign of terror on this country must be stopped.

Several outlets have outlined how the hearings will proceed, and we are slowly learning who might be testifying before the committee. According to NBC News, Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger is scheduled to testify during the live hearings. We already know what the bulk of his testimony will entail-the pressure Trump and others put on him to overturn the election in Georgia. Whether Trump supporters like it or not, they support a criminal-a criminal who needs to be with all the other criminals in the world, in jail.
