Donald Trump has already lost his New York civil fraud trial, and now he’s desperate to keep his Washington DC criminal trial from happening. But that’s clearly slipping away from him as well, if his rash of crazed and stupid filings tonight is any indication.

For instance, Trump’s lawyers made a filing tonight insisting that the charges be thrown out due to “failure to state an offense.” That’s right, Trump is now arguing that he hasn’t actually been accused of any crime. Trump is also demanding that certain January 6th related language be removed from the indictment, which is just laugh out loud silly.

To be clear, these filings have literally zero chance of succeeding. They also won’t delay the start of the trial by a single day. These are just Trump’s last ditch nonsense filings before the deadline arrived tonight for motions to dismiss.

Of course it’s these filings from Trump that will be dismissed. And these filings shouldn’t be referred to as “delay tactics” because they have no chance of actually delaying anything. The reason the trial date is set for March is so that these kinds of filings will have time to come and go without impacting the timeline. Trump is, simply put, flailing.

By the way, if these laugh out loud nonsense filings are the best that Donald Trump and his legal team can come up with, then they’ve got nothing. When Plan A is this laughable, Plan B and Plan C aren’t any less laughable. Trump’s got nothing, and his criminal trial is already slipping away from him.
