Donald Trump has lost the midterms, the Democratic House is preparing to steamroll him, Special Counsel Robert Mueller is looking to finish him off first, and the state of New York is waiting in the wings if everything else goes wrong. Now that everything is about to go down, what are Trump’s kids up to? They’re all focused on the same thing – and it’s almost a laugh out loud giveaway.

Donald Trump Jr spent yesterday tweeting his support for the First Step Act. Ivanka Trump is also signaling her strong support for the First Step Act. And according to both of them, Ivanka’s husband Jared Kushner is also on board with the First Step Act. So what is this piece of legislation that’s suddenly so near and dear to their hearts?

The First Step Act is a federal prison reform measure. No, really. The three members of Donald Trump’s family most likely to go to prison for their role in Donald Trump’s crimes are now really, really, really trying to improve conditions and reduce sentencing guidelines for federal prisoners. You can’t make this stuff up. This is their last big swing in office, and they’re literally using it to try to reduce the prison sentences they might end up serving.

To be clear, prison reform is a really good idea. We’d like to see this kind of legislation passed, because long term prison sentences are not the answer for a lot federal crimes. But it’s nothing short of hilarious that Donald Trump Jr, Ivanka Trump, and Jared Kushner – who could all be indicted on a federal and/or state level by the end of the year – are now worried about the fate of federal prisoners. This is like a Seinfeld episode, but with traitors.
