CNN, which is actually becoming much better, had a moment of pure amusement the other day. The object of their laughter? Kevin McCarthy. Kevin McCarthy had a whale of a time on Tuesday. He appeared to be a scared rabbit, scampering away from words he had just uttered.

The result made for a VERY interesting Tuesday, and perhaps that is why several CNN pundits broke out in gales of laughter at the cowardly McCarthy. It all started with McCarthy saying to CNBC he was not sure Trump could beat Joe Biden. Did someone administer truth serum to McCarthy? What was behind his — honesty? Kevin also said he was not sure Trump was the strongest candidate: “The question is, is he the strongest to win the election? I don’t know the answer.”

Oh no. Was Trump listening? Of course, he was. We know this because a clearly terrified McCarthy walked it all back just a few hours later. Such brutal honesty…for a brief moment… And the CNN hosts noticed and could not contain their laughter. Phil Mattingly, Alyssa Farrah Grifin, and Poppy Harlow were hysterical.

I imagine so were many people. So how did ole Kev do damage control? By calling the orange one himself. Sources say Kev actually apologized to IQ 4.5 and also said the quote had been taken out of context.
Right.

But Kev was not done groveling. He decided to do another interview, this time with Breitbart. AND a fundraising email was sent out. The sender was Kevin McCarthy — or at least someone close to him, no doubt in the marketing department.

In this email, Kev called Trump the “strongest” candidate to beat Biden. The whole thing was hysterical. Kevin let the mask slip briefly, and the real Kev peaked his head out. But of course, it couldn’t last. It couldn’t last because courage and bravery are two big enemies of the House Speaker.
