January 6th Committee zeroes in on Donald Trump and January 5th

We all watched Donald Trump stand in front of a crowd of lunatics on January 6th and encourage them to head to the Capitol to try to overthrow the election results, even going so far as falsely promising to go there with them. But of course that’s only part of the story.

There have been numerous scattered reports about Trump and his associates having actively plotted the Capitol attack the day beforehand, on January 5th. Sure enough, the January 6th Committee now says it’s investigating Trump’s actions on January 5th, according to Hugo Lowell in the Guardian. This is going to help paint a picture of premeditation. If Trump and his lawyers were to try to make the legal argument that his comments to the crowd on January 6th were spontaneous, that can be wiped out with proof that he was already conspiring the day beforehand.
