Jack Smith may have just found his angle for nailing Michael Flynn and Sidney Powell

I’m fond of pointing out that whenever we periodically get information about Jack Smith’s criminal probe into Donald Trump, it’s usually on a delay. Smith clearly prefers to work in secret. That means most of the information we’re getting is from criminal targets and hostile witnesses and such – and they only tend to be able to piece together what Smith is doing after the fact.

Last night Robert Costa of CBS News reported that Jack Smith is looking into Donald Trump’s scheme to seize voting machines after the 2020 election so he could then claim to have proof that the election had been rigged against him. What this likely means is that Smith has been working this angle all along, and that someone on the wrong end of it finally pieced it together and gave it to the media. In any case, the devil is in the details.

Costa is further going on to report that while Jack Smith is pursuing Rudy Giuliani for the fake elector scheme, he’s pursuing Michael Flynn and Sidney Powell for the voting machine seizure scheme. This comes after separate reporting last week from CNN which also stated that Smith was focusing on Flynn and Powell.

This is notable because it serves to underscore just how throughly Michael Flynn and Sidney Powell are in Jack Smith’s prosecutorial crosshairs. It appears that Smith is in the process of nailing the likes of Flynn, Powell, and Giuliani, in order to try to flip them against Donald Trump. No wonder Giuliani suddenly did a proffer interview with Smith’s team last week. With what all is leaking out at this point, the indictments of the likes of Flynn, Powell, and Giuliani must be right around the corner. Is this the week? Stay tuned.
