Ivanka Trump’s testimony is a disaster for Donald Trump already

Ivanka Trump is on the stand right now in the New York civil fraud trial, and she’s acting like she doesn’t know much about what went on financially in the Trump Organization. But that doesn’t really matter, because prosecutors are nonetheless using Ivanka’s testimony as an opportunity to introduce various documents into evidence that are disastrous for Donald Trump.

We’ll see how the rest of Ivanka’s testimony goes after the court’s lunch break. If it keeps going the same way it’s currently going, we’ll see a lot of headlines about how she didn’t say much. But she didn’t have to, given what prosecutors were able to establish while she was on the stand.

Let’s all keep in mind that in the real world, a trial – particularly something like a civil trial alleging systematic financial fraud – is generally not decided by a dramatic Perry Mason moment or “A Few Good Men” moment. Instead it comes down to specific facts being confirmed, which prove what’s being alleged. Ivanka Trump’s testimony today, despite her best effort to play dumb, served to further establish Donald Trump’s guilt. And that makes her testimony a disaster for him.
