Based on the mathematical trends, it’s been clear to Palmer Report since 4:00 on Wednesday morning that Joe Biden was likely to win the presidency. Since Thursday it’s been clear to us that Biden would definitely win. Since this morning it’s just been a waiting game. But now it’s official, as CNN and MSNBC among others have called the election for Biden.

This means Joe Biden is now President-elect of the United States, marking a remarkable life journey for him, and validating his message of healing and rebuilding America. This means that Kamala Harris is now Vice President-elect of the United States, marking a long overdue historic milestone for women, Black women, Asian women, and women of color.

There are still the usual formalities in terms of states finishing the last of the straggler vote count, certifying the results, and so on. Donald Trump may try various antics, but based on the size and obviousness of Biden’s victory, Trump has zero chance of derailing the inevitable.

We all worked our hearts our for four years to defeat Trump and take back America, and now we’ve succeeded. There’s still a ton of work to do, but now we’ll be doing it from a winning position instead of playing defense. America is back in the game – and I look forward to covering what comes next in American politics.
