Going after Eric Trump first is how prosecutors take down the mob
It’s a firehose of a news cycle with Trump beginning his rally – meaning the Republican National Convention. The big news is, of course, the latest damning Russian connections to Trump & Co. through Jared Kushner. But what’s not being focused on right now and should be is Eric Trump being singled out by AG James of New York.
Eric Trump is least favorite failson of The Donald. Hassling him in regard to his office of EVP of Trump’s companies is certainly out of Trump’s field of vision because he could care less about Eric. New York Attorney General Letitia James, along with every other prosecutor taking a look at Trump, is paying close attention. The fact that James is insisting Eric give a deposition is a shot across the bow to Trump & Co., but no one in the anointed Trump circle cares much. You certainly aren’t seeing them complain about it and sticking up for Eric. They are safe in their false sense of security, knowing Eric will do as they bid in order to keep his lowly standing. But what they don’t know is that this is exactly how prosecutors take down the mob. And especially the kingpins.
Ivanka, Don Jr. and Trump are all way more involved in Trump’s business dealings than Eric. They don’t mind fingering Eric as the fall guy because he’s an easy target, even for them. He was tapped to grift off the kids-with-cancer charity and got caught. Now even darling Ivanka can’t be in charge of charities, so they can easily blame Eric for catching the attention of AG James as well. But James is no idiot and knows the bigger criminals are Ivanka, Don Jr. and Trump. This is the classic way of taking down the mob: go for the weakest and most vulnerable first. And that is Eric.
Ivanka, her father and brother will let the lawyers stall for Eric, but they won’t understand that Eric is just a pathway to them. In their narcissism, they’ll all figure if their father retains his seat at the White House, they will deal with AG James effectively after the election. Should Trump lose, they will distance themselves from Eric and his testimony with their own set of lawyers.
But what they don’t see is that Eric is the canary in the coal mine. When he testifies, when he lies for them and about them, it will be the beginning of the end of them whether or not Trump manages to steal – er – win the election. AG James will take Eric’s testimony and run with it. She won’t stop. And she certainly won’t stop at Eric.
