Donald Trump is collapsing right in front of us

Donald Trump has spent his criminal trial sitting there like a bump on a log, often sleeping, sometimes waking up and cursing under his breath, mostly isolated and alone. His wife and daughters are nowhere to be seen. Many of his longtime political advisers are missing from his side, either because they’ve flipped on him or they’re in prison.

Trump, for his part, seems miserable, sullen, and broken. But you don’t have to take our word for it. Republican Senator JD Vance, who attended Trump’s trial this week, is flat out admitting that he did it because Trump is “lonely” and needed a “friendly face”:

Seriously? Donald Trump is claiming he’s a candidate to become President of the United States, yet his own allies are admitting that he can’t so much as sit through a trial four days a week without going into a funk out of loneliness? Trump is collapsing right in front of us. It’s almost like we don’t even need to come up with messaging on this, because Trump’s own people are unwittingly writing our messaging for us.
