Bizarre story involving Kevin McCarthy, Mar-a-Lago, and Donald Trump being depressed and not eating

After Donald Trump incited the January 6th Capitol attack, then-Republican House leader Kevin McCarthy publicly condemned Trump, only to turn around and visit him at Mar-a-Lago days later. McCarthy then helped provide Trump with a soft exit from the presidency, instead of being ousted under the 25th Amendment. The whole thing seemed strange, and it turns out it’s even more strange than we knew.

Liz Cheney is now revealing that shortly after Kevin McCarthy visited Donald Trump at Mar-a-Lago, she challenged him on it. McCarthy then justified the visit to Cheney by saying that Trump’s people were “really worried” because “Trump’s not eating … he’s really depressed.”

This serves to underscore that ever since Donald Trump’s presidency and life collapsed on January 6th in a heap of inevitable legal trouble, he’s pretty much just been a blob sitting there at Mar-a-Lago feeling sorry for himself and waiting to be finished off.

It helps explain why Trump made so few public appearances in 2021 and 2022 before criminal charges left him feeling compelled to start making public appearances in 2023 – and why Trump comes off as so sullen and defeated in the public appearances that he has been making.

As much as the media (on both sides) keeps chasing ratings by trying to hype Donald Trump as having some kind of political future, it’s now clear that even Trump knew back on January 6th that it was all over for him. It explains why, as his cognitive abilities slip away, Trump’s failing mind seems to be planting him back in roughly the year 2012. That’s back before he ruined his life by running for President.
