Jim Jordan may finally be getting what’s coming to him

As much as I don’t care for the most obnoxious members of the America First gang – like Reps. Jim Jordan, Marjorie Taylor Greene, Matt Gaetz, etc., I have regularly discouraged people from donating to their Democratic opponents – because, unfortunately, they all represent safely red districts where they would win re-election even if every registered Democrat came out to vote against them. We’re much better off spending that money on races to protect Democrats whose seats are potentially at risk next year instead. However, there is one reason to be optimistic in 2022 when it comes to redistricting – the possibility that Jordan may be drawn out of a seat.

A redrawn map recently proposed in Ohio would merge much of his current district with that of Democratic Rep. Joyce Beatty – the head of the Congressional Black Caucus. While Jordan is free to run for re-election, his chances aren’t great – and rather than having his back, the GOP-controlled Senate in Ohio is the one that supported this redrawing, putting them at odds with Jordan’s campaign.

We may not be able to get the worst of the GOP voted out of office, but by holding the line, there’s lots of reasons we can give them for not even wanting to stay in politics. If the GOP doesn’t retake Congress in 2022, then deplorables don’t get to head committees and we can keep them in the hands of responsible adults – and that alone should be reason enough for us to drive up our numbers and come out to vote in 2022.
