Tucker Carlson is even further gone than you think
Just when you think the Fox “News” people can’t get more ridiculous, here comes Tucker Carlson to prove you wrong. Carlson claims that we don’t have a white supremacy problem in America. Could that be because Carlson is himself a white supremacist? Let’s look at one of his more ridiculous conspiracy theories, shall we?
In June, HuffPost reported on Tucker Carlson’s claim that white farmers in South Africa were being targeted with violence. He even went so far as to call it “genocide.” Carlson’s theories originated with neo-Nazis. Keep in mind that Carlson has been spreading this nonsense for the better part of a year, as the Daily Beast also called him out on it in 2018. At the time his lies aired, Donald Trump openly supported these lies.
Trump even tweeted that he was having Mike Pompeo “closely study the South Africa land and farm seizures and expropriations and the large scale killing of farmers.” He then quoted Carlson and re-tweeted “South African Government is now seizing land from white farmers.” Now, very few of us think Trump is very smart. However, wouldn’t it behoove someone in his position to check the authenticity of this story before retweeting it? Not when it’s Trump. He will do any and everything to make his racist base happy. In fact, the white supremacists cheered these erroneous tweets. Okay, so they’re all stupid.
Judd Devermont, Director of the Africa Program at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, promptly debunked Carlson’s claims. Devermont said that what Carlson was referring to was a land reform plan that was under consideration to correct apartheid-era laws that gave land to whites while pushing blacks into “tribal homelands.” Read that again: This plan was being done to correct the racist taking of lands from black South Africans. So, how is that white genocide again?
Carlson was an idiot then to spread this lie, and he’s an idiot now to claim white supremacy is a “hoax” in America. He also compared this “hoax” to the “Russian hoax.” Excuse me, but Mueller found factual evidence of Russia’s interference in our elections. So, this is a hoax how? While everyone is piling on Carlson for this ridiculous piece, the award for the best response goes to Don Lemon of CNN. After airing Carlson’s ridiculous claim, he took an extended moment of silence followed by a laugh. After Lemon asked if that wasn’t “the dumbest thing he’s [Carlson] ever said,” his co-host said: “It really takes some nerve to complain that, the people who are complaining about white supremacists are the ones who are trying to divide the country.” She is absolutely right.
I’m getting really tired of saying this, but I’ve got to assume these idiots think the rest of us are stupid. You can’t use reverse psychology on people who are smarter than you, Carlson. You can save that nonsense for Trump’s racist, homophobic, ignorant followers because the rest of us have minds of our own and eyes that can clearly see what’s going on here. We’re not falling for any of their foolishness. I just hope they keep it up so that Trump can be unceremoniously escorted from the White House in 2020.
