Earlier this afternoon, we brought you the story of how Russia had opened fire on Ukraine’s naval vessels, in an obvious pretext for Vladimir Putin’s longtime goal of invading mainland Ukraine. Now, in what is obviously not a coincidence, Donald Trump is making a point of running interference for Putin.

Shortly after the news broke that Russia had indeed opened fire on Ukraine, Donald Trump decided to attack the European Union on Twitter: “Europe has to pay their fair share for Military Protection. The European Union, for many years, has taken advantage of us on Trade, and then they don’t live up to their Military commitment through NATO. Things must change fast!” What does this have to do with Ukraine? Everything, considering that Ukraine has a formal economic alliance (and an informal political alliance) with the EU. But that’s only the half of it.

As we speak, United States border agents are firing tear gas on migrants who have approached the U.S.-Mexico border. This has prompted major American news outlets to focus their coverage primarily on the incident, instead of on Russia’s attack against Ukraine. Considering the timing, this is rather obviously not a coincidence.

Not only have Donald Trump and his handlers almost certainly manufactured this afternoon’s border incident in order to give Vladimir Putin cover, Trump’s tweet about the European Union is unquestionably aimed at giving Putin cover. The tweet itself is an act of treason – particularly when placed within the context of Trump’s treasonous plot with Russia to alter the outcome of the 2016 election in his favor. Trump’s actions today further cement the inevitability that he’ll end up in prison – yet he’s such a Russian puppet, he has no choice but to go along with it.
