Jared Kushner rather famously never opens his mouth in public, but it turns out he’s been running his mouth quite a bit in private when it comes to the Saudi Arabian government’s murder of Washington Post journalist Jamal Khashoggi. Not surprisingly, Kushner’s advice to Trump has been totally corrupt – and it’s made things even worse for Trump.

Even as governments and financial investors around the world begin putting the squeeze on Saudi Arabia due to its out-of-control Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Donald Trump has continued to stand by him in almost cartoonish fashion. That’s because Trump and his son-in-law Kushner have a personal financial relationship with the Crown Prince, and can’t afford to go against him. Trump and Kushner are both deeply in financial debt, and can’t afford to lose any of their benefactors. So even as Trump hems and haws like the indecisive dotard that he is, Kushner has been pushing him to stick with Bin Salman.

According to a new report from the New York Times, “Mr. Kushner has argued that the crown prince can survive the outrage just as he has weathered past criticism.” This fits a consistent pattern of Trump being unsure what to do, and Kushner pushing the most corrupt move possible.

It’s been widely reported that even as Donald Trump was trying to decide what to do about the expanding Trump-Russia investigation in 2017, Jared Kushner aggressively pushed him to fire FBI Director James Comey. This backfired spectacularly, as it directly resulted in the appointment of Special Counsel Robert Mueller, while putting Trump and Kushner on the hook for felony obstruction of justice. The question isn’t whether Kushner is going to prison; he is. The question is whether he’ll end up with a life sentence.
