Even as emergency conditions continued to get even worse for the three-plus million United States citizens living in Puerto Rico, Donald Trump spent the weekend playing golf while tweeting racist insults about Puerto Ricans. He’s finally preparing to visit the island this week, after having thoroughly botched the relief effort in deadly fashion. Now there’s one tweet in particular that he’d like to have back.

When Louisiana was hit by severe flooding in 2016, local officials asked President Obama and the presidential candidates not to visit too soon, for fear of clogging roads and diverting late enforcement officials. Obama and Hillary Clinton obliged. Trump raced to Louisiana, causing a logistical nightmare, and handed out some Play-Doh before leaving. Along the way, he posted this disingenuous tweet about Obama:

Now that Trump is dealing with a major U.S. natural disaster of his own, he’s spent the past several days golfing and tweeting garbage while failing to adequately help Puerto Rico. In fact he handed out a trophy at a golf tournament on Sunday, while dedicating it to Puerto Rico, as if the gesture was of any help to those on the island without power or water or medical attention.

In the mean time, Donald Trump has accused Puerto Ricans of being lazy and “ingrates” while calling the mayor of its largest city “nasty.” Even while golfing, Trump has found plenty of time to multitask on Twitter – just not to do anything helpful or useful.
