Even as Americans found themselves laughing uncontrollably at Melissa McCarthy’s ingenious portrayal of White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer on Saturday Night Live, someone else watching and is now fuming mad about it. No, not Spicer himself, who’s been laughing it off. But his boss Donald Trump was so mortified to see Sean Spicer portrayed by a woman, he’s now soured on Spicer, whose “longevity” as Press Secretary is now in question.
Trump was less bothered by the fact that SNL portrayed Spicer as an incompetent lying raging maniac, and more bothered by the fact that he was portrayed by a woman. This is according to sources close to Trump himself, who have leaked to Politico that Spicer being lampooned by a female actress was “not considered helpful for Spicer’s longevity” in the administration, adding that “Trump doesn’t like his people to look weak.”
That’s an incredible revelation, and it means that Trump is such a profound sexist that he views a man being portrayed by a woman as being the ultimate insult. Nevermind that Saturday Night Live’s version of Sean Spicer had him yelling, screaming, fumbling, holding up stuffed animals, and physically ramming his podium into reporters to try to silence them as they called him out for his lies. None of that bothered him as much the fact that a female actress was called on to play the part.
The insiders go on to reveal that Donald Trump was so mortified at seeing Spicer portrayed as a woman, his lack of usual derisive comments about SNL this week are because he was just that rattled by the appearance of a woman in the role. This suggests that all that has to be done to prompt Trump to fire Spicer is for Melissa McCarthy to keep portraying him.
