This Supreme Court ruling is a disaster

The Supreme Court has come out with a ruling that may have severe and horrific consequences across the United States. In a genuinely terrible ruling, the highest court in the land has ended President Biden’s eviction moratorium. The decision was not entirely unexpected but still, the White House expressed their disappointment with the decision.

This ruling can have dire consequences. People are hurting all over the country. To say many are struggling does not do what is going on justice. The unemployment numbers are off the charts. Many people have seen their industries decimated since the start of COVID.

The situation is not helped by the fact that in recent years, rents have skyrocketed. I spoke of this in a former article, but I feel it is important to mention it again.

So what do people do? So many have no income coming in or significantly less than they did a year or two ago. The rents keep on rising. Specific areas that were deemed quite affordable at one point are no longer so at all. This is especially true of urban centers all over.

The squeeze on the middle-class is worse than ever, and rampant poverty remains a massive concern. Democrats have spoken out against the decision, including Mayor Bill de Blasio, who labeled the court “a group of right-wing extremists.” The White House is working hard to get the Congressional approved rental funds distributed.
