Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) doesn’t bother much with veracity or decorum. In fact, she’s a font of disinformation and manufactured right-wing rage. Greene is supposed to represent her constituents in Georgia’s 14th congressional district, but she spends most of her time doing and saying foolish things for negative attention on the national stage. Greene is one of the newest members of Congress, but she’s already become one of the QAnon party’s most recognizable personalities.

Greene is already known as a bully to her colleagues. She’s a promulgator of the Big Lie. She spreads falsehoods about Jewish people. She disseminates false information about the coronavirus and the COVID-19 vaccines. She is a bully to transgender people and other marginalized communities. Greene has already been suspended from Twitter before for spreading disinformation; CNN reports that she’s been suspended three times, whilst the New York Times says she’s now on her fourth suspension.

The reason for her latest suspension, this time a full week in duration, is for spreading disinformation about COVID-19 vaccines. Like many of her Republican cohorts, Greene isn’t interested in the wellbeing of our compatriots, and the truth is of little use to her. She uses disinformation to garner attention for herself and to keep the rage machine fired up for right wingers. Twitter did the right thing by placing a substantial suspension on Greene’s account. Surely Greene is running out of chances with the social media platform, and it’s a voice she doesn’t deserve to have at all. Perhaps her next suspension will be permanent.
