Wow is Donald Trump ever in trouble now
Donald Trump was so upset when CNN announced a new poll showing that he was fourteen points behind Joe Biden nationwide, he had his lawyers threaten the network and demand that the poll be retracted. In reality every poll says that Trump is losing; it’s just a question of by how much. Now we’re starting to get an answer, and it’s coming from an unlikely source.
The Rasmussen poll is traditionally so skewed in favor of the Republicans, Donald Trump loves to brag about how well he’s doing in the poll, even when all of his other poll numbers are worse. But now Rasmussen is saying today that Trump is twelve points behind Biden nationwide. For reference, a month ago, Rasmussen said Trump was down just five points.
Of course the new Economist/YouGov poll has Trump just eight points behind Biden nationwide, so as always, you have to look at the averages, and not just one poll. What’s notable is that a month ago, the Economist/YouGov poll said that Trump was just three points behind Biden, and now it’s eight points.
But really, when the overall polling trend is so overwhelmingly against Donald Trump that even Rasmussen isn’t bothering to try to prop him up, wow is Trump ever in trouble. It’s still a long time until election day, and lots of things can happen, so we have to keep putting in the work on things like voter registration and voter turnout. But as of right now, there’s no mistaking it: Trump is a deep, deep hole. Let’s keep making it deeper.
