What doesn’t kill us…

German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche said : “What doesn’t kill me, makes me stronger.” The quote has lived on in time and is used frequently by many and also referenced in moments of great adversity. And I believe it can be used to apply to us — all of us Democrats.

Think about it. We all lived through a terrible time. For four long and seemingly endless years, we had a maniac in office. We were all subjected at his will to toxic, enraged tirades, diatribes of vicious rage, chained in part to a madman who was unpredictable and insane. It is a wonder we made it through, but we did.

I believe every now and then, we need to look around and heave a sigh of relief. And we also need to be proud — not just of Biden, of Harris — but of ourselves as well.

That is where this quote applies perfectly. Look at us all! We came through everything a bit jaded, but also a great deal stronger, much tougher, and with our will to fight stronger than ever before.

Give yourself a pat on the back. We are survivors — all of us. But we are also warriors of a sort. We all have shown ourselves to be reformers, activists, and champions of democracy and of America.

The fight is still going, and there will be many battles ahead. But take the time to smile. Positive reinforcement does wonders, and in the face of adversity, you — and I — and all of us — stood mighty. We did it in 2020. We can do it again. Yes, it made us stronger.
