No, no, no, CNN, you mustn’t! As you all know, CNN, who I once compared to an elevator in another article, has reached critical mass with its foolish decisions. It’s not something I’m happy to see happen. I think we all would acknowledge we need quality television journalism.

And there has been an absence of that on CNN since — well — since Chris Licht took over. And if he does what rumors are he might do, I predict a blunder of epic proportions. According to numerous reports, CNN is considering hiring a comedian to fill its 9:00 PM hour. You know, the one that’s been sitting without an anchor for quite a while now.

Now — hiring a comedian in and of itself isn’t the worst decision. Reportedly Jon Stewart is one of the people being considered. I’d watch him. It is, however, who ELSE is being considered that has me worried. The other comedian up for the job is none other than Bill Maher. I kid you not.

I can’t imagine the potential ramifications of this decision if it indeed comes to pass.

Bill Maher is no longer a comedian. He is an aggravating troll who uses the word “woke” almost hourly. He thinks he is more important than he is. And he has shown he will do anything to get attention. Maher would be a disastrous choice. That is why I expect CNN to go with him over Stewart or anyone else.

Of course, I could be wrong. ( And hope that I am.) The reason I think they might go with Maher is that when faced with decisions, CNN almost always chooses the worst one. Chris Licht has shown us he is completely out of touch with what viewers want. He showed us that by actually thinking having Jake Tapper in prime-time was a good idea.

He showed us that by censoring the CNN New Year’s Eve show to the point where it became an online punch line. Time and again, CNN has shown us its idea of watered-down politics, so why would this time be any different? I sincerely hope CNN does not choose Maher. I think if they do, they will lose even more viewers. Then again, it doesn’t really seem like they care about a pesky thing called ratings.
