Yesterday Donald Trump and Bill Barr had the Department of Justice seek to withdraw its criminal case against Michael Flynn, even though Flynn already pleaded guilty and cut a cooperating plea deal quite awhile ago. As Palmer Report has explained, this idiotic move doesn’t help Trump in any way, shape, or form – and it’s a reminder that Trump has absolutely no 2020 strategy.

Worse, this takes a very ugly Trump scandal and puts it right back on the front page. Michael Flynn criminally conspired with Russia against the United States government while he was working for the Trump 2016 campaign, and then he committed the felony of lying about it to the FBI while he was Trump’s White House National Security Adviser. It also means that Trump would very much like to have this December 2017 tweet back:
