Warning signs

Think about who you know. Think about your friends, your acquaintances. Now here is the question: are personality traits contagious? In a study conducted many years ago in the “Journal of Personality and Social Psychology,” researchers claim some traits might be.

See, many “take on” the qualities of some of the people they spend time with. For example, if one has as their best friend a healthy eater and this one is NOT a healthy eater, they might find themselves starting to watch what they eat a bit more.

It is an interesting theory to ponder. And it would go a long way to understanding why Republicans cannot let go of Donald Trump. One of the reasons might be because he is “contagious,” or at least some of his personality traits are.

If one thinks back to the 2016 Presidential PRIMARIES, one could see the warning signs. For example. Lindsey Graham, for all his talk back then about Trump being a dangerous conman, seemed to adapt to him quickly. And he “mimicked” him in his campaign ads.

Remember how Graham — and others — put out similar ads to Trump trying to recreate his anger in the hopes they might generate more votes for themselves?

Of course, some of this is due to corruption. But not all of it. I believe this study — which took place in Michigan — and other similar studies have a point. People can at times seemingly morph into each other. They can take on another’s negative energy. And in many cases, they can “become” the other person — or at least become LIKE such a person.

Perhaps if a real leader broke out among the Republicans, — one with guts and courage and honor — that would force some changes to some of the more cowardly Republicans. Or perhaps not. It is, after all, just a theory. And it is important to know this research was conducted on children, rather than adults.

But it’s a theory worth talking about. Also worth talking about is the fact that such a Republican leader described above has not yet made an appearance — and perhaps they never will.
