Senator Tom Cotton is a creepy and distasteful clown. He is seemingly bereft of humility and wears his racist clown makeup with pride. Only this is one clown who does not make people laugh. He makes them cringe. The Senate Judiciary Committee met to discuss Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson’s nomination to the Supreme Court.

Now, if you’ve been paying attention, you know we already have the votes. This is all a mere formality. Judge Jackson will be confirmed.

This fact, however, did not prevent several Republicans from proudly demonstrating their racist Bona fides as they preened and pranced for the cameras.

Tom Cotton was perhaps the worst.

Wearing a scowl that I am convinced he was born with, Cotton let the insults fly. Here are some bits of what he said:

Cotton labeled Jackson “the defense attorney for criminals.” I personally think that is a better description for Alan Dershowitz.

Cotton went on and on — droning in his terribly boring voice as he desperately tried to make any Maga who might be watching think that he was cool.

He accused Brown of “sympathizing with criminals.”

He accused her of letting someone out of prison on compassionate release because this person had high blood pressure.

He said she “twists the law.”

But what really did it for me? Cotton labeled Jackson a terrorist sympathizer.

I saw red — bright, sparkling, furious red..

The REAL terrorist sympathizers are Republicans. They sympathize with the insurrectionists, who several unhinged House GOP members have labeled “prisoners of war.”

Cotton, sitting arrogantly on his racist thrown, dogged in his falsities, has no inkling of what it takes to succeed in this world — especially when things are stacked against you.

As I said, Judge Jackson will be confirmed. But it won’t be with the help of people like Tom Cotton, a smug and clownish non-politician, an already-failed possible Republican presidential contender, and a failure in every way that matters.
