Donald Trump’s worsening senility is now obvious to everyone who’s seen him speak of late. He doesn’t know one person from another, and he has no idea what’s going on around him. But one thing that’s really stood out is that Trump appears to have lost the ability to understand the passage of time.

For instance Trump recently claimed that New York Attorney General Letitia James was responsible for something that happened several decades ago. Trump also seems to think that Barack Obama is the current President, and that Obamacare is something brand new. As Trump’s mind fails, the different periods of time from his lifespan appear to be running together.

So it’s worth pointing out that, even as Trump spent the weekend making all kinds of different senile remarks, he once again demonstrated that he can’t grasp the passage of time:

.
On its own, you’d say no big deal, Trump thought something was two weeks ago when it was actually last year before the holidays. But when you put this kind of thing within the context of Trump thinking that the 1980s were the most recent previous decade, and that the current political year is 2012, you see that this guy really does seem to have lost the ability to understand what the “present” is.

This trend is worth continuing to watch. There have been other instances of this, such as when Trump claimed that we were on the verge of World War II. In that instance, was his mind reverting to the 1930s? That’s before he was even born. What’s going on here? How much longer before his mind jumps to the 2000s and he thinks he’s still hosting the Apprentice and starts trying to fire audience members during a speech?

That sounds like a punchline, but after this past weekend, it wouldn’t be surprising at all. It’s not just that Trump doesn’t know where he’s at. Trump often doesn’t seem to know when he’s at. And if so, it’s only going to get worse.
