This is just ugly for Donald Trump and Mark Meadows

Just the other day, I wrote about fear and how it feels. And right now, there is some fear among U.S. intelligence officials. These officials have embarked on a Scavenger Hunt of sorts. They’re searching – searching for a highly sensitive classified document that appears to be missing.

This document reportedly contains information — about Russia. It also reportedly contains information about Russian interference in the 2016 election. And they can’t find it. It seems to be missing. When searching for a missing person OR a missing classified document, it is important to go over the chain of custody — for example, with a person, one might ask: where were they last seen?

It’s the same with a classified document. Where was it last seen? It was last seen in the possession of Donald John Trump and Mark Meadows. This is not good. Reportedly senior U.S. intel officers are highly concerned, as are some European allies.

This from CNN: “The intelligence was so sensitive that lawmakers and congressional aides with top-secret security clearances were able to review the material only at CIA headquarters in Langley, Virginia … Here, their work scrutinizing it was itself kept in a locked safe.”

Apparently, this important document was last seen during Trump’s time in the White House when he ordered it brought to him. Mark Meadows reportedly lead the scouring of the document. Republican aides were hoping it could be released to the general public, so they were poring over this document and redacting stuff.

Meadows gave the Department of Justice a redacted copy of the original. But nobody knows where the ORIGINAL copy is. It was not found in the search of Mar-a-Lago last year. Not good — not good at all. Where is the missing document? What happened to it?

Now — we don’t KNOW Trump did anything — anything NEFARIOUS with this document. Still, people have their opinions, and these opinions are not giving Trump the benefit of the doubt:

“gave the file to Putin.”

“Up in smoke.”

“It’s safe — in Moscow.”

“Expected nothing less.”

“All right, Donald. Where’d you hide this one?”

I can’t say for sure that Trump did ANYTHING with the document, but very few believe this is just an innocent mistake, a misplacement, if you will. Very few believe THAT, including myself.
