2024 Republican primary voting shows that roughly half of Republican voters hate Donald Trump and don’t want him to be the nominee. Yet Republican politicians keep acting as if they need to be in Trump’s good graces in order to survive politically.

It’s an odd phenomenon, suggesting that Republican politicians are falling for the media’s misleading narratives about Trump’s base and the Republican voting base being one and the same. Take, for instance, this humiliating progression by House Republican Nancy Mace:

This is just embarrassing for Donald Trump and Nancy Mace both. Mace is clearly willing to humiliate and debase herself for political reasons. And for all the talk about Trump being some kind of vicious dictator, he’s actually the kind of confused soft bellied rube who seemingly forgot how much he hated Mace the minute she started being nice to him again. What a pair of losers.
