This is completely out of control
Not long ago, when the Department of Justice officially closed President Biden’s classified docs scandal with no charges being recommended (always the predictable outcome), a right-wing prosecutor baited the media into making it a campaign issue for President Biden.
The media and Republicans tried milking this for all it was worth – all while Donald Trump spent the last two weeks making a whole lot of pretty big gaffes of his own – at least one per day – about pretty big things. In the time since the DOJ’s decision, we’ve seen both President Biden and Vice President Harris come out swinging against the language in the report – a master class in how you handle a scandal. Getting mad works – voters see it as a sign of strength.
The big breaking stories about President Biden this week were 1) That he uses notecards for speeches and 2) The president’s great-great-grandfather was an outlaw (no, really.) On one hand, it’s easy to be as annoyed with the news media as we’ve been at their shameless pursuit of ratings, but the fact is that they’re clearly being driven to desperation.
There’s nothing to scandalize and they’re in that part of the cycle where they’re doubling down on being wrong as viewers see through it. Keep in mind the part you play in this: Their clickbait nonsense won’t last if you don’t read it or watch it. Let’s stop letting them control the narrative and put in all our efforts to get President Biden re-elected, flip the House and keep the Senate on Nov 5.
