The ones around him are no less guilty

I want to make a case for why some people are criminals. Not Donald Trump. We KNOW what he is. We KNOW he’s broken the law. No, I speak of the republicans that defend him — all of them.

To make my case, I harken back to the year 1988. A ground-breaking film was released that year starring Jodie Foster. It was called The Accused. In it, Sarah Tobias, played by Foster is gang raped at a bar. The District Attorney decides to charge not just the rapists but all of the people surrounding them who did nothing — nothing to save Tobias from her grim fate except cheer, catcall, and encourage.

I submit to you that is what republicans like Kevin McCarthy, Marjorie Taylor Greene, and Elise Stefanik are doing right now. They may not ever be charged. They may not be criminals according to the law. But they are guilty. They are guilty of inciting — same as the people in that bar who did nothing were guilty.

To see evil and say nothing is bad enough. But to see evil and actively encourage it makes you no better than the ones perpetuating the evil. Donald Trump stands accused. He IS the accused. And what do these people that work for US do?

They encourage him. They tweet outrage. They make threats. They wanted to haul Alvin Bragg before them for the “crime” of trying to get justice. These republicans are criminals. They are bad people who actively encourage violence. By choosing to align themselves with Donald trump, what they are saying is the rule of law means nothing to them.

It is merely something to spit on. There IS no rule of law in these republicans’ minds. And no, they cannot be prosecuted for merely encouraging Donald Trump. But they can be branded for the traitors they are. When one chooses criminality over the rule of law, there is malice aforethought. They knowingly made a CHOICE. They chose evil over good.

They have obfuscated and babbled, seeking to blame anyone but the accused. So when it comes right down to it, these people are no better than the accused himself. They are rotten, they show depraved indifference , and they have given away their consciences — what little they had — toward the thwarting and sabotaging of justice. Yes, that sounds pretty criminal to me.
