The damage has already begun
We’ve all spent the past day and a half laughing and rolling our eyes as Donald Trump for his idiotic suggestion that Americans try ingesting disinfectants in order to deal with the coronavirus. But as important as it is to mock Trump and expose him for the inept idiot that he is, in another sense this isn’t a laughing matter.
The New York Daily News is reporting tonight that since Trump made his remark about ingesting disinfectants, there has been a sharp spike in the number of people who have contacted the authorities because they feared they might have poisoned themselves with disinfectants. Fortunately none of them have gone on to become seriously ill. In our view, the scary part is that if anyone has died from ingesting disinfectants at Trump’s behest, and they didn’t call for help first, there might not even be any way to know for awhile.
As is the case with so many of Donald Trump’s catastrophic failures and inept stunts, it can be difficult to try to calculate the full extent of the damage he’s doing. But every day this clown remains in office, the total level of damage he’s done will continue to increase.
